Hyderabad: The city traffic police have decided to ban the movement of sharing autos in Hyderabad from January 1, 2016.

Speaking to The Hans India, Additional Commissioner (Traffic) Jitender said that it was decided to ban the movement of sharing autos in Hyderabad city from January 1, 2016. The outcome was the result of several internal meetings the traffic department had and also the meetings with the auto unions.

“The law says that the autos with meters have to engage limited (three persons) number of passengers. Taking this as an advantage, several auto drivers are removing the auto meter and plying the autos on sharing basis for passengers throwing their lives at risk,” the additional commissioner said. Sharing autos would now have to fix a meter as per the MV Act within 45 days.
