Sugarcane growers to get direct subsidy

The Union government on Wednesday announced direct payment of subsidy to the cane growers for the cane they sell to the sugar mills. The decision will free the burden on the sugar mills which are suffering financially. According to the government’s decision, the sugar mills can adjust the arrears to be paid to the farmers both the current and the previous years.
