Cherla (Khammam): Six TRS leaders were abducted allegedly by the CPI-Maoists near Pusuguppa village under Cherla mandal of Khammam district. Though the incident took place late on Wednesday, it came to light on Thursday.

The leaders were identified as Bhadrachalam constituency in-charge Mane Ramakrishna, Cherla mandal former president Patel Venkateshwarlu, former secretary Santapuri Suresh, Venkatapuram mandal former president Satyanaryana, Wajedu mandal president Dabbakatla Janardhan and Pusuguppa former sarpanch Ramakrishna.

Mane Ramakrishna had unsuccessfully contested the Assembly polls from the Bhadrachalam seat on TRS ticket in 2014 elections. According to sources, the leaders were called up by the Maoists for talks. On Thursday morning, a letter purportedly issued by CPI- Maoist official spokesperson Jagan demanded that the government take stringent action immediately against those policemen who resorted to fake encounters.

The letter also said that combing operations in the Agency that have been going on from Khammam to Adilabad districts be stopped with immediate effect. The Maoists also threatened to kill TRS leaders if the government fails to stop encounters. The letter also said that they would kill all the six leaders, who were in their possession, if the government didn’t respond to their demands immediately.
