TRS leader T Ravinder Rao addressing a press conference in Hanamkonda on SundayWarangal: The Opposition parties in the State receive a shock treatment in Warangal parliament by-election on the basis of voter turnout, said the ruling party district president T Ravinder Rao and former deputy CM T Rajaiah.

Speaking to press persons at the TRS district office in Hanamkonda on Sunday, they exuded confidence of winning the by-election with thumping majority. The higher turnout of the voters in the polling showed the confidence the people in the TRS government.

Even Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal expressed surprise at the huge turnout of the voters. In any by-election, normally the voting percentage would be less but the people trusted the TRS and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao recording huge turnout of 69 percent uncommon for a by-poll, Ravinder Rao said.

The opposition parties told the voters to give a shock to the ruling party but, on the contrary the people chose to give a shock to the Opposition parties and voted one side to TRS nominee during polling on Saturday, he added.

There were no polling agents for Congress and BJP-TDP during the polling and that shows how those parties were rejected by the public. The public was with the ruling TRS and don’t trust the opposition parties.

The leaders of Congress and BJP-TDP alliance remained indoors on polling day as they could not face people. ‘The results which would be out on November 24 would be a slap in the face of the opposition parties,’ Ravinder Rao asserted.

Rajaiah refuted the allegations by the opposition parties that the ruling party of spent money and misused its power. The TRS had never influenced the voters. The party since the beginning has been maintaining that the by-election was a referendum on the TRS rule and the public favoured the party.

Party nominee P Dayakar thanked KCR for selecting him to contest in the by-election and promised to work for the welfare of the people in association with the local MLAs and TRS leaders.
