Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has assured that the Khammam district would be developed on par with Godavari districts in Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking at a function organised to admit Congress leaders from Khammam into the TRS party on Saturday, Chandrashekar Rao said the backward district would reap benefits with the unification of Rajiv Sagar and Indira Sagar projects which would irrigate five lakh acres.

Meanwhile, those who joined the TRS were Illandu municipal chairperson Rama Venkat Goud, 13 councillors, 14 MPTCs of Illandu and Vaira constituencies, Jadi Janamma, Pinapaka ZPTC member, Venkat Reddy, Kusumanchi MPP and Madata Venkat Goud, Congress leader of Illandu.

The Chief Minister said by next general elections the Tandaas, Adivasi Gudem would become Special Gram Panchayats. He said Telangana was ahead with special plans for the development of Minorities and Dalits. Ministers Tummala Nageswar Rao, Padma Rao, Chief Whip Koppula Eswar, Legislators Kankaiah, Madan Lal, Venkateswarlu, Pidamarthi Ravi, SC Corporation Chairman, Ravinder Singh, Karimnagar Mayor and Baig, TRS president Khammam district were also present.
