Khammam: Left parties have fielded Communist Party of India (CPI) senior leader Puvvada Nageshwar Rao as their joint candidate for the MLC elections, which will be held on December 27.

After holding several meetings and analysing the ongoing present situation in the political arena for the past few days, the senior leaders of the Left parties have declared Nageshwar Rao as their candidate here on Friday. The senior leaders observed that Nageshwar Rao will give a stiff competition to the ruling TRS as people know what he did to the district as MLC and MLA.

Puvvada would fetch a good number of votes from the people’s representatives from outside their party too, they felt. CPI senior leader P Nageshwar Rao had been Member of Legislative Assembly of Andhra Pradesh representing Khammam from 1989 to 1999 and represented the Legislative Council from 1981 to 1985 and again from 2006 to 2011. Nageshwar Rao will file his nomination on December 4 as the candidate of the Left parties.
