Hyderabad: In order avoid untoward incidents during the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) polls, the Telangana State Election Commission (SEC) along with police department has decided to make elaborate arrangements to ensure public safety.

The SEC Commissioner V Nagi Reddy held meeting with police officials and directed them to beef up security to ensure fair and peaceful election. Unlike 2009 Corporation election, Nagi Reddy asked officials to curb bogus voting, money power, muscle power and irregularities during the election.

He also asked officials to ensure the security of returning officers while performing the election duty. Nagi Reddy asked official to maintain strict vigil on arms and ammunition.

Nagi Reddy further stated that the SEC has identified 8000 polling stations and 2500 polling locations to conduct the GHMC election. He asked police officials to co-ordinate with the civic body for further information for making security arrangements.

Hyderabad Commissioner M Mahender Reddy, Cyberabad Commissioner CV Anand, SEC Secretary Ashok Kumar, GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy and senior officials have participated in the meeting.
