Hyderabad: The Telugu version of ‘Back from the brink’ a book authored by former Union Minister Jairam Ramesh was released at Centre for Economic and Social Studies (CESS) here on Thursday. The book has been translated by A Krishna rao.

Delivering the P V Narasimha Rao Memorial Lecture, Ramesh said the book highlights the economic reforms that were initiated by Rao. Ramesh said that although Rao was the first to introduce economic reforms his name was hardly mentioned and the credit has been given to subsequent Prime Ministers.

He stated that Rao was very bold in decision-making and faced every situation with patience and courage.

Listing out the qualities required of a politician, he said that one needs to know the art of listening, compromising and communicating, which were qualities that were found abundantly in Rao.

Stressing on the former prime minister’s positive and negative sides, he said, Rao was a person who was not easy to understand, which was the reason people often misunderstood the remarkable individual. Meanwhile, Ramesh and Krishna Rao, who is also a journalist, will jointly pen a book on the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, which will be released in February. Senior Congress leaders MP V Hanumantha Rao, Undavalli Arun Kumar, Ponnala Laxmaiah and Sakshi Media, Editor Director K Ramchandra Murthy participated in the event.
