Illegal coaching centres thrive in Tandur

• Many of them are capitalising on the ignorance of jobless youth
• Centres are operated in shabby environments
• Lack drinking water and toilet facilities

Tandur: With the Education department officials adopting indifferent attitude, the innumerable coaching centres for the written tests of TET, DSC and recruitment of police constables in the town, which operate mostly without permission, are having a field day.

Managements of these centres, which do not have the permission of the government agencies like the DEO, Municipality, Fire Services department, are making the most by capitalising the ignorance of the unemployed, mostly youth.

These tutors are earning in lakhs by robbing of the jobless youth under the veil of
educationists. They are charging Rs 5,000 a month from each unemployed degree-holder, giving him/her a false hope of jobs and a rosy future. Most of these centres are run in a haphazard manner.

Many are operated in dark surroundings, even without drinking water and toilet facilities. About 100 persons are forced to sit in a room, causing severe hardship to them, particularly women.

For more of those attending classes for TET coaching, tents and sidewalls were put up even on roads to accommodate more candidates, amid the din of moving vehicular traffic.

When this correspondent approached Tandur Mandal Education Officer (MEO) Sivakumar, he stated that the coaching centres have to secure various permissions from the government.

He promised to conduct an inquiry against those being illegally run and submit reports to higher officials. Later, action would be initiated against such centres, asserted the MEO.
