Karimnagar: Congress Deputy floor leader in the Assembly T Jeevan Reddy wanted the State government to waive off the amount of third and fourth instalments of crop loan waiver scheme at one time so that the farmers could get some respite from the bankers.

Speaking to the reporters here on Thursday, Jeevan Reddy said farmers were becoming farm labourers because of the continuous dry spell since last two years. Instead of taking measures to protect the farmers, the government was concentrating only on elections and showering boons on the people of the areas where the polls were due, he alleged.

Jeevan Reddy alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s own district Medak, Agriculture Minister’s native district Nizamabad and IT and Panchayat Raj Minister K T Rama Rao’s Sircilla division were included in the list of drought-affected areas, by setting aside other districts.

Takeover of Nizam Sugar Factory was one of the main election slogans of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) but the party forgot its poll promise after coming to power, he added.
