Mahbubnagar: Booksellers in Mahbubnagar are making brisk business for the past one month, thanks to the job notifications released by the State government. At present, the government has released notifications for jobs in various government departments including Police, Revenue, Excise, Agriculture, Electricity, Panchayat Raj and Civil Supplies.

In the police department alone there are 9,000 posts and soon the government is planning to release notifications for vacancies in the Education Department. Overall, it is sort of a festive season for job aspirants. Lakhs of people who were eagerly waiting for the notifications are now seriously concentrating on studies and taking coaching in various institutes.

“This is a good opportunity for us to grab a government job. We have been taking coaching for the Groups for the past four years and this year I am expecting to bag at least one post in the government sector,” says Amruth Rao, a job aspirant who will become ineligible due to age limit by next year.

However, on the other hand, taking this opportunity to make fast bucks, the booksellers are doing a brisk business by selling competitive books like general knowledge, current affairs, geography, economics, Telangana history, Telangana culture etc.

“For the past one month, the demand for Telugu academy books is growing. We are receiving at least 200 to 300 customers searching for Telugu academy books. Most of them are of the opinion that whatever government books are printed, it has a weightage in the exams,” says Shivananad, a bookseller in Mahbubnagar.

There are about 20-30 major book stores in the district which are selling books on various genres. There are only 6-7 shops which sell competitive books. “Earlier we used to have a collection of Rs 10,000-Rs 15, 000 a day, but for the past one month our business has gone up three folds. For the past one month, we are getting a collection of Rs 60,000 to Rs 70,000 per day,” says V Rajashaker Goud, another bookseller near collectorate in the district.
