An ancient crystal lingam of Lord Shiva (Spatika lingam) was stolen from the 300-year-old Kedareshwara temple(Yancha shivalayam) in Yancha village of Navipet mandal in the district on the wee hours of Saturday.

Navipet (Nizamabad): An ancient crystal lingam of Lord Shiva (Spatika lingam) was stolen from the 300-year-old Kedareshwara temple(Yancha shivalayam) in Yancha village of Navipet mandal in the district on the wee hours of Saturday. Yancha Shivalayam in the district is famous for the crystal lingam attracting large number of devotees.

The thieves dug out the lingam from the spot and throw it in front of temple.

The priest who opened the temple doors in the morning found the Shivalingam missing and he reported the matter to the police. The police rushed to the temple and took up investigation.

The thieves removed the crystal part from the lingam and escaped with it.

Nizamabad DSP Anand Kumar and his team of policemen visited the spot and inspected the temple premsies.

Police also presed into service sniffer dogs. The clues team collected clues from the spot. Later, speaking to reporters, the DSP said that the police department would collect the clues and would launch a manhunt to arrest the thieves.
