Addressing the gathering after flagging off the sixth National Voters Day rally at the Collectorate along with Joint Collector Ravinder Reddy and Superintendent of Police Chandrashekar Reddy, the District Collector said that future of any country in the world depends upon its vibrant youth.

Each and every person who completed 18 years should enroll their names in the voters list and participate in elections to elect a good government and make democracy meaningful.

The rally which began at the Collectorate passed through the Gandhi Chowk and reached the Rajiv Gandhi Auditorium in the town.

The District Collector said that if we do not utilise our right to vote, we lose control over the government and cannot compel it to take steps for development. She said that Nizamabad district stood first in the Telangana state in enrolment of the maximum number of voters and linking their voter cards with Aadhar cards.

Besides, the bogus voters were also removed from the list, she added. District Superintendent of Police Chandrashekar Reddy said that the voters should cast their vote without fear in the elections and police department would provide full security at the polling booths. The voters should not be influenced by money and liquor, he added.

Joint Collector Ravinder Reddy said that in each and every college, a lecturer was appointed as nodal officer for voter enrolment and students who have completed , 18 years of age should enroll themselves at their college. They could also make modifications in their voter cards if they were already enrolled, he added.

The District Collector felicitated senior citizens who have been exercising their franchise from 1952 onwards and distributed voter cards to the youth who completed 18 years of age after enrolling themselves. Later, the District Collector inaugurated the photo exhibition at the Rajiv Gandhi Auditorium.

Additional Joint Collector Rajaram, DRO Mohanlal, DTC Durga Prameela, DCO Srihari, RDO Yadireddi, NCLP PD Sudhakar, Tahasildar Rajender were present on the occasion.
