Asifabad (Adilabad): Leaders of the All-party group demanded the setting up of a Tribal (Girijan) University in the Adilabad district. Participating in a Round-Table meeting at the Roads & Buildings guest house in the town on Friday, leaders belonging to the BJP, TDP, Congress, MIM and several student unions said that the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, during his visit to Jodeghat in the district to take part in Komaram Bheem’s death anniversary, assured the people that the Girijan University would be set up in the district.

But now, how could the same Chief Minister, during his campaign in the Warangal byelection, make an announcement that the Girijan University would be established there, they wondered. They said that 400 acres of land was available in the Adilabad district for setting up the University and the government should honour its promise.

The leaders said that they would sit in a dharna at the Sub-Collector’s office on Saturday for the purpose and urged the MPS and MLAs to exert pressure on the State government to set up the Girijan university in Adilabad.
