Khammam: Communist Party of India (CPI) district council secretary Bagam Hemanth Rao accused Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao of running away from the problems faced by the people in the State. Addressing a party meeting here on Wednesday, he said Chandrashekar Rao who almost promised moon to the people hasn’t even uttered a single word about the prevailing drought conditions in the district.

“The district is reeling under acute drought with people struggling to fetch a pot of water. The farmers were in debt trap with inadequate rainfall over the last few years,” the CPI leader said, pointing to the dried up streams, wells and other sources of water. KCR who time and again says that he had the spirit of separate state agitation was trying to suppress people’s movements, Hemanth Rao said.

Referring to the construction of proposed Rollapadu reservoir as part of Seetharama Irrigation Project, the CPI leader demanded the government that they should carry out works only after the displaced were provided with alternative means of livelihood. Regarding Khammam Corporation elections, he said that they already started campaigning for the ensuing polls and were open to forge alliance with likeminded parties. Senior leaders Potu Prasad and Sk Janimiya among others were present.

Meanwhile, it’s learnt that party would observe the 10th death anniversary of former CPI Municipal Floor Leader Puvvada Uday Kumar on February 21.
