Warangal: Even as other major political parties – Congress, Telugu Desam and BJP - are gearing up to face the might of ruling TRS party, the CPI, CPM, MCPI and Lok Satta along with some others have on Sunday come under one roof to test their luck in the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) elections. The leaders named their alliance as ‘Better Warangal Front’.

The leaders who met here have decided to jump into the election fray with a slogan ‘Development at your doorsteps’.

Speaking to The Hans India, the CPM state committee member Mettu Srinivas who headed the meeting earlier in the day, said: “We will go into polls with a three-point agenda – focus on common man issues, corruption-free rule and comprehensive development.

The leaders resolved to forge alliance with likeminded parties and social fora. The meeting decided to announce their manifesto on February 25. All the parties are expected to announce their candidates in a couple of days.

CPI city secretary S Karunakar, CPM state committee member Mettu Srinivas, MCPI city secretary M Babu Rao, Lok Satta district secretary G Ravi Kumar and Telangana Praja Samithi district president Tirunahari Sehsu were among others who participated in the meeting.
