Khammam: Telugu Desam politburo member and former MP Nama Nageswar Rao criticised the State government for not lending its ear to the problems faced by the people.

Campaigning for the party candidates contesting the municipal elections here on Wednesday, he accused the ruling TRS party of betraying the people in the state by not implementing its poll promises.

“Almost all the divisions in the Khammam Municipal Corporation (KMC) are in a poor state without a proper drainage system and short supply of drinking water,” the former MP said, claiming that whatever the development the city had witnessed was only during the TDP regime.

It was the TDP which brought in reforms for the empowerment of women, he said, referring to the legislation that provided equal rights to women along with men in respect of property.

Training guns against party defectors, Nama said that though the leaders left the party the cadre is always with the ideology of Telugu Desam.

“People will teach a lesson to the ruling party,” he said, alleging that TRS was trying tooth and nail to lure the leaders of Opposition. Party candidates K Anitha, R Ramana, V Kranthi and Suresh Kumar were present in the campaign.
