Hyderabad: Telangana State Assembly Speaker K Madhusudhana Chary on Sunday, while reassuring the government’s all-out bid to make Hyderabad the health capital of the country, called upon the healthcare industry to focus more on research to bring about a qualitative difference.

He was speaking during the two-day national conference on Pelvis and Acetabular Fractures organised jointly by KIMS Hospitals and Association of Pelvis Acetabulum Surgeons of India (APASI) in collaboration with Telangana Orthopedic Surgeons’ Association (TOSA). The Speaker lauded private players like KIMS Hospitals for being in the forefront of medical excellence that was helping the government’s commitment to the wellbeing of every citizen in the State.

“The culminations such as this are vital in exchanging ideas and working towards innovations and accomplishments,” he said. Orthopedic surgeons and those into trauma critical care dealing with complex pelvis acetabular fractures from all over the country and a few from abroad took part in the conference.

A bone model workshop, jointly coordinated by Dr Srinivas Kasha and Dr Ashok Das, was conducted to enable surgeons to get hands-on experience for better understanding of pelvic anatomy. Pelvis and Acetabulum fractures are among the most serious injuries treated by orthopedic surgeons.

Some of the key issues that were addressed by experts included pelvic and acetabular fractures, surgical approaches, combined pelvic and acetabular fracture management among others.
