Nalgonda: Kodad police on Tuesday have busted an inter-state fake currency racket and seized counterfeit notes having face value of Rs 3.5 lakh. The police arrested two persons, including a woman, in connection with the case. The arrested were identified as Minnu Beebhi (32), a resident of West Bengal, and Mohamed Ali, a native of Hyderabad.

Suryapet DSP Abdul Rasheed produced the arrested before the media at Kodad police station. Disclosing the details of the case, the DSP said that the police, posted at Kodad Bus Stand, found a woman who was suspiciously moving at the Bus Stand along with child. They found huge amount of currency notes in the bag when they checked her.

They later confirmed they were counterfeit notes. The police also arrested Mohammed Ali who came to collect the fake currency bag from her at the Bust Stand. During interrogation, cops founds that the woman was transporting fake currency from Malda in West Bengal to Kodad to hand it over to the conduit, Mohammed Ali.

She came to Kodad from Malda via Howra, Delhi and Vijayawada and Mohammed Ali will hand over the fake currency to Md Ghouse, a resident of Thalab Katta in Hyderabad. We would soon arrest Md Ghouse also, the DSP said. Kodad Inspector Sridhar Reddy and Sub-Inspector Charamanda Raju were also present.
