CID arrests 10 persons in CMRF scam
The Telangana Crime Investigation Department officials on Thursday arrested 10 brokers for their involvement in the Chief Minister Relief Fund scam and submitted a report on the ongoing status of the case to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. The CID had started probe into the case in which huge amounts were diverted and misused by the private persons in 2015.
Hyderabad: The Telangana Crime Investigation Department officials on Thursday arrested 10 brokers for their involvement in the Chief Minister Relief Fund scam and submitted a report on the ongoing status of the case to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. The CID had started probe into the case in which huge amounts were diverted and misused by the private persons in 2015.
The officials have identified the role of as many as 112 private persons in the scam, out of which 21 were brokers. The officials arrested 10 persons and the hunt is on to nab the remaining brokers. It was found that brokers and other private persons had siphoned off huge amounts from the government by submitting fake bills on treatment of ailments.
The accused include outsourcing employees, who worked at billing desk, employees of Arogya Mitra and brokers. After verifying the bills submitted by hundreds of hospitals, including those located at remote areas and cities, the sleuths confirmed the irregularities. It was found that the accused submitted bills by doubling and tripling the actual cost of treatment.
The CID, in its report to the CM, reportedly mentioned the role of employees at various hospitals in Karimnagar, Nalgonda, Hyderabad, Warangal and Nizamabad districts. CID in its report said funds to the tune of over Rs 85 lakh were siphoned off by the accused at various places before it started probe into the allegations of the CMRF scheme. It is also learnt that CID would also nab illegal beneficiaries of the scheme as part of the investigation.
