Hyderabad: University of Hyderabad scholars, student organisations, Vemula Rohith Chakravarti’s mother Radhika and four ‘socially boycotted’ research scholars deposed before the one-man commission constituted to probe the suicide of research scholar Rohith on Monday. Scholars and student organisations shared information on the events and circumstances that led Rohith to end his life.

“We have deposed how ABVP leader Susheel Kumar misinterpreted and polarised the public. We also deposed about the Vice Chancellor who is responsible for death and how he misused his power in targeting dalit students,” said a member of the Joint Action Committee for Social Justice.

On the other hand, Radhika told the commission about the university's failure to inform the family about Rohith’s ‘social boycott’ and even his suicide. After deposing before the commission, the students met acting VC Periasamy and discussed several demands made by the student JAC.

Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union President, Kanhaiya Kumar who was in the news for his arrest on charges of sedition would be in the city for two days. He would participate in a meeting being organised at the University of Hyderabad on March 23.
