Hyderabad: A Telugu film director from Hyderabad has been arrested by the Punjagutta police on Tuesday on the charges of forgery and selling the movie rights to his friend illegally, according to police. According to sources, Mohanty Padmarao (40) alias PK, a resident of Krishna Nagar, was associated with the Telugu film industry for the past 20 years.

About a year ago, he along with producer Jana Ramarao of Ameerpet, started a movie “Ammayilu Take Care” and the producer was planning to release the movie in the month of April after completion of remaining post production works. On March 10, PK has organised an audio function of the movie, by changing the movie name as “Vadu Veedu Kalpana” and also sold the movie rights illegally to his friend Pradeep Chowdary of Film Nagar.

Learning about this, Ramarao complained to the Punjagutta police. Basing on his complaint, the police collected evidences and found that PK had forged Ramarao’s signature and sold the movie rights to his friend on profit sharing basis. On Tuesday, the police arrested and remanded PK in judicial custody.
