On the occasion of holi festival, Nalgonda RDO Venkatachary launched a signature campaign to save birds here on Wednesday. He signed on the Save Birds banner. Poets, writers, artistes, lawyers, teachers, nature lovers and others participated in this programme after celebrating the holi and raised slogans like Save Birds Happy Holi.

Nalgonda: On the occasion of holi festival, Nalgonda RDO Venkatachary launched a signature campaign to save birds here on Wednesday. He signed on the Save Birds banner. Poets, writers, artistes, lawyers, teachers, nature lovers and others participated in this programme after celebrating the holi and raised slogans like ‘Save Birds Happy Holi’.

They expressed concern on the vanishing of birds due to urbanisation, radiation from cell towers and deforestation. Addressing the gathering, the RDO lauded the organisers for conducting the Save Bird campaign on this festival day. ‘Without nature, humans cannot survive. Birds, flowers, animals and trees – all play key role in balancing the nature,’ he said.

Venkatachary expressed concern over the diminishing different kind of birds day-by-day. He urged the public to show humanity towards birds to balance the nature and for the welfare of present and next generations. Poet and host of the programme Venu Sankoju said birds and animals are associated with the humans from birth till death. He requested the public neither to hunt nor hunt the birds.

Instead, love them by providing nuts and by keeping small water bowls for them in their houses or balconies. The organisers dedicated the programme to freedom fighter late Bhagath Singh in view of his death anniversary, which coincides with holi festival.

Advocates G Venkateshwarlu and Amarender Rao, CPI leader Adireddy, DTF leader Somaiah, artistes Venkat, Srinivas, Shankar, Deva, Linga Raju, poets M Venkat, Krishna Kodinya , Anand, Gynaneshwar, P Nagender, Naryana Rao, Somu, PRTU leaders Biksham Goud, K Narasimha Reddy and about 250 others participated in the signature campaign.
