Replying during Question Hour in the Council on Sunday, he said that 1,015 cases were pending with the Endowments Tribunal, 89 writ petitions were in High Court, 131 cases in other courts and two special leave petitions were pending in Supreme Court. 

Hyderabad: Endowments Minister A Indrakaran Reddy on Sunday informed members in the Legislative Council that 14,030.28 acre temple land was under encroachment. Replying during Question Hour in the Council on Sunday, he said that 1,015 cases were pending with the Endowments Tribunal, 89 writ petitions were in High Court, 131 cases in other courts and two special leave petitions were pending in Supreme Court.

He said that due to the technical problems arising out of bifurcation, the Tribunal in Telangana State was yet to become fully operational and the judges were yet to be appointed. “All the court cases are being contested diligently and being pursued for disposal,” he said. The Minister said there were more than 12,000 temples across the state. Pattadar Pass Books had been obtained for an extent of 23,098 acre belonging to 587 temples out of the 84,730.18 acres held by 2,924 temples.

“Action is being taken to obtain Pattadar Pass Books and Title Deeds for the remaining temples and the district Collectors were asked to address the issue expeditiously,” he added.
