Karimnagar: In the wake of rising temperatures, District Collector Neetu Kumari Prasad asked the district officials to prepare plans to protect the people from sunstroke. The Collector conducted a meeting with all district officials to discuss about preventive measures need to be taken during the summer at the Collectorate conference hall here on Monday.

She directed the officials to prepare department-wise summer action plan and submit it at the earliest. Speaking on the occasion, she emphasised the need to create awareness among the public about preventives measures need to be taken during summer to protect themselves from soaring heat.

Besides establish hoardings at important centres, pamphlets should be distributed to the public, she said and asked the officials to take steps to create awareness among people about sunstroke by organising programmes with folk artistes. Children, pregnant women and aged people should not come out during daytime.

Besides arranging shelters with tarpaulins, drinking water and ORS pockets should be make available to labourer at NREGS work sites. Drinking water and ORS sachets should be distributed at granite and sand quarries, work sites of water grid, Mission Kakatiya, panchayat and road and buildings works, temples, bus stations, bus shelters and auto stands, she directed.

The Collector asked the labourers to stay away from their work from 11 am to 5 pm and asked the officials to motivate NGOs to establish more drinking water distribution points.
