The 25 students and two professors of University of Hyderabad, who  were released from Cherlapally Central Prison on Tuesday night, threatened to intensify the protests demanding arrest of persons who are responsible for death of research scholar Rohith Vemula.

Hyderabad: The 25 students and two professors of University of Hyderabad, who were released from Cherlapally Central Prison on Tuesday night, threatened to intensify the protests demanding arrest of persons who are responsible for death of research scholar Rohith Vemula.

A local court on Monday had sanctioned bail to the students and the two professors, who were arrested by the Cyberabad police for vandalising the UoH Vice-Chancellor’s chamber and attacking police on March 22. Several students of UoH, members of various students’ organisations and other had waited for the release of the students and professors.

Speaking to media after their release from jail, the students said they would intensify the protests in the varsity against the resumption of duties by VC P Appa Rao. They also said their protest would continue till Union Ministers Bandaru Dattatreya and Smriti Irani were arrested.
