Hyderabad: Justice Sanjay Kumar of the High Court at Hyderabad directed the government of Telangana to clearly spell out the time frame by which it would constitute the Wakf Board for the State. He questioned the government why it was taking so long in constituting it despite statutory requirement.

The judge gave this direction on Wednesday while hearing a writ petition filed by Zakeer Hussain who wanted the court to declare the inaction of Telangana government as illegal, unconstitutional and also violative of Section 13 and 14 of the Wakf Act 1995.

The petitioner's counsel Qureshi pointed out to the judge that the Wakf Board for Telangana State is remaining unconstituted since formation of Telangana State and a special officer is running the show. The judge directed the State government counsel to take instructions about specific time-frame by when the Wakf Board will be constituted.
