Hyderabad: Is TRS moving closer to BJP? The prediction at the Ugadi celebrations held at Ravindra Bharathi on Friday that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao would play a key role in national politics has given rise to such speculations in political circles.

Reading out the almanac for Durmukhi Nama Samvatsaram, vedic scholar Bachampalli Santosh Kumar Sastry said that KCR’s rasi was Karkataka which indicates bright future for the ruler. The Chief Minister would play a prominent role in national politics by March 2017, he said.

Political observers say that the recent developments also indicate that the TRS was perhaps moving closer to BJP. If all goes well BJP may have an alliance with TRS in Telangana and TDP in Andhra Pradesh. The friendship that was seen between the TBJP and the TTDP during the 2014 elections has soured now.

The state BJP feels that alliance with TTDP had done greater harm to them. It had badly affected the prospects of the party candidates in all the elections, including the GHMC polls.

Interestingly, the state BJP had recently stated it would go it alone in the 2019 elections indicating that it was moving away from TTDP. In fact, majority of BJP leaders, including Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya and outgoing BJP state president G Kishen Reddy have been opposed to the alliance with TDP.

Even the new state BJP president Dr K Laxman, sources say, has more positive attitude towards the TRS government. Under his leadership as floor leader the BJP had participated in the power point presentation made by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on irrigation projects in the state Assembly while the TDP boycotted it.

The Chief Minister had in the past stated that he would do anything for speedy development of the state. Even Nizamabad MP K Kavitha had said that the TRS would join BJP at Centre if invited.
