Hyderabad: The decision of Telangana State government in fixing Rs 50 as royalty fee per packet of BT cotton seeds will continue to hold till June 14, ruled the High Court at Hyderabad on Wednesday.

A division bench comprising of Acting Chief Justice Dilip B Bhosale and Justice P Naveen Kumar suspended an interim order granted by a single judge in staying the decision by the Telangana government.

Monsanto Biotech (India) Pvt Ltd had challenged the order by the Telangana government fixing the royalty fee, The single judge bench granted the stay.

The government preferred an appeal before the division bench which ordered the Registry to list all the cases pertaining to the BT cotton sale price dispute to list before it. The bench advised the counsels in the batch of petitions to complete their arguments on Wednesday, so that it can deliver final order in this matter.

The Telangana government counsel expressed his inability to complete the arguments in a short span of time and urged the court to adjourn the matter to after summer vacation and in the meanwhile suspend the operation of the order of the single judge.

Though the counsel for Monsanto opposed the contention of the government counsel, the bench granted the interim order by suspending the single judge order till June 14 and adjourned the case.
