Nalgonda: BJP Telangana State president Dr K Lakshman on Sunday said the Mission Kakatiya and Bhagirath programmes initiated by the TRS government was benefiting only contractors and not useful for people. Dr Lakshman attended a programme titled ‘Village Development is Country’s Development’ (Gram Uday, Bharat Uday), launched by the Prime Minister, at Choutuppal in the district.

This was Dr Lakshman’s first public interaction after assuming office as Telangana party president. The BJP chief alleged that the TRS government had miserably failed to address the problem of fluorosis in the district even after two years of its rule. Dr Lakshman alleged that the State government was trying to crush the rights of sarpanches and MPTC members.

Dr Laxman slammed the government for not spending the central funds properly for public welfare. He criticised Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for neglecting the public, who were facing problems due to drought conditions in both district and State and showing utmost interest on bypolls.

He advised the government to focus on providing assistance to the public, particularly farmers, in the drought-hit mandals to build confidence in them. Laxman demanded that the government should take necessary steps to avoid villagers from migrating to other places.
