Birkur (Nizamabad): At an awareness camp held for the farmers at the village revenue office here on Wednesday, farmers pulled up the officials and questioned them as to why their problems remained unresolved. The farmers lamented that that ground water resource were drying up in the mandal and blamed the government for giving permission indiscriminately to carry out sand quarrying on the banks of Manjira river. They said that the bore well were completely drying up.

The officials assured the farmers that they would take up the issue of sand quarrying with the Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and get it resolved. In-charge assistant director of District Agriculture Department Kamala, Sarpanch Narasaiah, Assistant Eextension Officer shravan Kumar ans several farmers were present.
