Congress, TDP whipping up anti-TRS sentiment: KTR
Telangana IT Minister K T Rama Rao on Friday said that the Congress party which has made it a habit of losing every election in the State has now started a new drama of ‘sentiment’ in the Palair by- election.

Hyderabad: Telangana IT Minister K T Rama Rao on Friday said that the Congress party which has made it a habit of losing every election in the State has now started a new drama of ‘sentiment’ in the Palair by- election.
In an ‘open- letter’ released to the media, the Minister accused the Congress and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) of adopting ‘double standards’ on the issue of ‘sentiment’ and blamed them for politicising the deaths of sitting legislators.
“Why did the Congress field a candidate against the mother of Srikanthachary at Huzurnagar in the 2014 elections? Uttam Kumar Reddy should understand that if there is no sentiment in Huzurnagar, there exists none in Palair either.” Saying that the TDP has turned into an addendum of the Congress, KTR accused the TDP of having back-stabbed N T Rama Rao and of now trying to erase his memory from the public domain.
“The TDP is opposing projects like Bhakta Ramdas and Sitarama in Telangana. Why is the Congress taking the support of such a Party?” questioned KTR. In the same vein, he asked the voters of Palair to teach a befitting lesson to the Congress Party. The Palair by-election was necessitated following the sudden demise of Congress legislator Ramreddy Venkat Reddy.
Generally, Opposition parties stay away from the fray as a mark of respect but TRS has put paid to such policies of late by fielding its Candidates in every such by-election. While the Congress is fielding the wife of the deceased MLA, Sucharita Reddy in the by-election, the TDP and YSRCP have extended their support to her.
Further justifying his Party’s decision to jump into the poll fray in Palair, KTR said it was meaningless to say that no one should field a candidate against the family of Ramreddy Venkat Reddy.“When MLA Ramreddy Venkat Reddy was in the hospital, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao sanctioned Rs 1 crore for his medical expenses and ensured that medicines were brought from abroad.
However, the Congress Party was now using the leader’s death for petty politics,” said KTR. He pointed out that when the MLA of Sujata Nagar of CPI Party died in 1996, Congress had fielded Ramreddy Venkat Reddy from Sujata Nagar.
Similarly, when A Madhav Reddy was killed in a landmine blast, the Congress did not hesitate to field its Candidate against the wife of the departed leader. He also questioned the TDP for opting out of the contest in Palair when they had earlier contested the Narayankhed by-election.
