​New Delhi: TRS MP A P Jitender Reddy met Union Defence Minister Manohar Parikkar here on Friday seeking his intervention in acceding to the demands of the TRS with reference to the Cantonment issues.

Reminding Parikkar that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had already submitted a memorandum highlighting the problems faced by the civilians due to the closure of the arterial roads in the Cantonment area for general public at certain hours, Jitender Reddy asked him to instruct Cantonment authorities to be more considerate.

The MP urged the Minister to part with 34 acres of land for construction of alternate roads for civilians and also release of Rs 220 crore for the laying of roads.

Cantonment Board officials were objecting to the survey work of the GHMC officials in their area for road mapping claiming that the exemption given to civilians for using the roads was temporary and would expire on May 31 and that they would not allow any outside authorities activity in their area, he pointed out.
