Treat entire State as drought-hit: TDP
The Telangana Telugu Desam Party (T TDP) on Friday demanded that Governor E S L Narasimhan direct the State government to declare the entire State as drought-affected and waive all pending loans taken by farmers.
Hyderabad: The Telangana Telugu Desam Party (T TDP) on Friday demanded that Governor E S L Narasimhan direct the State government to declare the entire State as drought-affected and waive all pending loans taken by farmers.
A delegation led by Party President L Ramana called on the Governor at Raj Bhavan and submitted a memorandum to him. The Party also urged the Governor to direct the government to provide drinking water in the drought- affected districts and start fodder camps on a war footing.
He said that the groundwater table had drastically gone down in over 440 mandals and all Corporations, Municipalities, Nagar Panchayats and Gram Panchayats which have been facing an acute drinking water problem.
Working President of the TDP A Revanth Reddy alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was busy with Palair bye-election. He also accused the TRS government of selling millions of gallons of water to liquor companies while the people were facing a severe drinking water shortage.
