Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Friday urged the Centre to give funds for conducting Krishna Pushkarams. In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi the Chief Minister said that it was estimated to spend Rs 802.19 crore for Krishna Pushkarams beginning from August 12 in the State and sought the Central share of Rs 601.65 crore for the event.

The State government decided to conduct Krishna Pushkaralu in a grand manner on the lines of Godavari Pushkaralu. It decided to release the funds needed to construct the bathing ghats and for providing all the facilities during the event. Krishna River which passes through 281 km in Telangana is one of the pious rivers in India, he noted.

He also apprised the Prime Minister that about 3.5 crore people would come from both Telugu States, Karnataka and Maharashtra for the 12 day-long Krishna Pushkaralu for which the districts concerned were asked to make necessary arrangements. The Chief Minister also said that the State government had already sent the related details to Union Finance Ministry and urged the Prime Minister to take the initiative for speedy release of funds sought, a CMO release said.
