Hyderabad: Director General of Police Anurag Sharma on Monday gave a clarion call for all policemen in the State to take up water harvesting and also Swacch Telangana campaign at all police stations, complexes and surroundings.

Participating in a programme for building water harvesting pits in DGP’s office, he said that saving every drop of water by controlling water usage and through water harvesting techniques was essential in view of water scarcity across the State. “The police should consider it as a social responsibility act to conserve water for the sake of future generations,” he said.

Senior police officers Satyanaraian, M Gopi Krishna, Krishna Prasad, Ravi Gupta, Sandeep Shandilya, Bala Naga devi, V V Srinivas Rao, Naveen Chand, Shivadhar Reddy, K Srinivas Reddy, M K Singh, Sanjay Kumar Jain, Akun Sabharwal and other officials participated in the water harvesting programme.

The officers also cleaned the premises stretching over one km inside the DGP complex and removed the litter and garbage from the petrol pump area under Swachh Telangana programme.

Later, police officer Sanjay Kumar Jain along with a team of officers including Ramesh Reddy went round all the sections in the DGP office and exhorted the staff to maintain cleanliness in their sections. They also adjudged the SC section as the best-maintained section and awarded a cash prize of Rs 2,000.
