Warangal: Kakatiya University (KU) Students-JAC leaders have called upon the people in the State to keep away from the Telangana Formation Day celebrations. The JAC leaders said aspirations with which crores of people in the State who took part in the agitation for statehood for Telangana have remained unfulfilled even after two years of formation of the State.

Therefore, instead of the State formation celebrations, a “Martyrs Memorial Week” should be observed from June 2 onwards, they added. Speaking to the media in Hanamkonda town on Tuesday, the JAC leaders said the people in the State were highly distressed as their dreams were shattered while the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was trying to mislead them with jugglery of words.

The JAC leaders D Saraiah of PDSU, S Madar Saheb of AISF, M Bhasker and E Pochaiah of MSF, D Rajashekar of SFI, D Madhukar and Syed Hussain of NSUI, M Naresh and M Kranti Kumar of ABSF and Anil of DSU urged the people to question the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao as to what he had done to fulfill their aspirations during the last two years.

“During statehood agitations, we fought against a rule of Seemandhra leaders and now, the time has come to fight against the rule of feudalists in Telangana”. Farmers’ suicides and migration of the unemployed youth was going on unabated while real Telangana activists remain unrecognized and unsung, they lamented.

The exploitation of natural resources by corporate and multinational corporations, non-appointment of Vice-chancellors in universities, proposing the introduction of private universities Bill, diluting the KG to PG free education scheme have marred the two-year rule of the TRS, the JAC leaders added.

Therefore, collective agitations have to be staged again to achieve democratic Telangana and to fulfill the aspirations of martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the cause of the separate Telangana State, they added.
