Khammam: CPI State secretariat member and former MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao accused the TRS-led government of bulldozing the Opposition. Addressing a press conference here on Friday, he alleged that by changing the names of welfare schemes introduced by the previous governments, the TRS is trying to hoodwink the people.

“The TRS government didn’t come up with any new irrigation project. All that it did was to change the names of the projects in the name of redesigning,” Rao said, alleging that there was a huge corruption in the Mission Kakatiya and Mission Bhagiratha projects. He said that the government has opened up the floodgates of corruption by increasing the costs of all projects.

Telangana has gone into the hands of corrupt politicians and contractors, he alleged, accusing the government of suppressing the voice of people and Opposition parties. He found fault with the government for not fulfilling its poll promises and for not pressurising the Central government for the Bayyaram steel factory.

Stating that the role played by the CPI was pivotal in the Peasants’ Armed Struggle and the Telangana Movement, Rao criticised the government for its efforts to weaken the people’s movements initiated by the Left Parties. He threatened to launch more agitations if the government fails to address the problems faced by the people.

He also demanded the government to ensure the speedy completion of irrigation projects initiated in the district. Senior leaders Singu Narsimha Rao and Thati Venkateswar Rao were among others present.
