Hyderabad: Tension prevailed in the Osmania University campus on Thursday after police stopped leaders of various political parties from entering the campus to participate in 'Jana Jathara', a meeting organised by the OU Unemployed Students' JAC. The High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad had issued orders on Wednesday directing the police and the OU Registrar not to encourage political meetings in the campus.

Addressing a press meet at OU police station, East Zone DCP Dr V Ravinder said Congress leaders M Bhatti Vikramarka, Sridhar Babu and several others who had sneaked into the campus despite the ban orders, were detained by the OU police and sent to Amberpet police station.

The meeting was held by the JAC to address the issues that were not yet resolved by the State government since the formation of new State. Meanwhile Kondangal MLA A Revanth Reddy, who managed to sneak into the campus and participated in the meeting, said that the government was ignoring the sacrifices made by the students to achieve Telangana.
