KU has been gearing up to introduce Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) in the current academic year among the degree colleges, affiliated to the university. A meeting of degree college principals was held at the university on Saturday. The university in-charge registrar, Prof K Althaf Hussain, addressing the gathering, asked the colleges to get ready for implementing the CBC system.

​Warangal: Kakatiya University (KU) has been gearing up to introduce Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) in the current academic year among the degree colleges, affiliated to the university. A meeting of degree college principals was held at the university on Saturday. The university in-charge registrar, Prof K Althaf Hussain, addressing the gathering, asked the colleges to get ready for implementing the CBC system.

The principals of the colleges need to play an active role in this. Soon the syllabus would be posted on the university website. The colleges should maintain transparency in degree admissions and online registrations without the involvement of the students should be avoided, he said. The university was planning to extend the last date for admissions into degree courses.

The college managements should implement bio-metric system to monitor students’ attendance. Implementing bio-metric attendance system plays key role in providing affiliation to the college, the registrar informed. Dean (Academic audit) Prof T Ramesh announced the academic plan for second and third year degree courses.

The colleges should take steps to improve infrastructure like labs and libraries and to prevent ragging on the college campus. The controller of examinations, Prof K Purushotham, informed that gathering that efforts were being made to conduct examinations in semester system. All the colleges should extend their cooperation in that connection.

Internal quality assurance cell director Prof P Krishnamachary wanted the colleges to initiate measures to improve educational standards. The cell liaison officer, LP Rajkumar, asked the managements to upload the college data to union HRD ministry. Nearly 300 principals attended the meeting.

They wanted decentralisation of valuation of degree answer sheets, to set up Academic Staff College and to provide a quota to in service lecturers in PhD admissions. Sports Board secretary G Pani and NSS programme coordinator Prof B Digambara Rao have explained activities of their wings. Deputy registrar T Venkataramana, superintendents B Netaji and P Sridhar were present.
