Says KCR adopting double-standards on Kodandaram

Hyderabad: Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir felt that a ‘show-cause’ notice should be issued to senior Congress leader and party MP Palvai Govardhan Reddy for his comments against CLP leader K Jana Reddy.

Interacting with the media at the CLP office on Thursday, Shabbir Ali requested the Congress High Command to take serious action against Govardhan Reddy and said the latter had no right to speak about Jana Reddy or any other leader.

"Whenever he talks, he speaks ill of someone and always targets one leader or the other,” said the Congress leader. He pointed out that Govardhan Reddy had fielded his daughter Sravanti Reddy from Munugode constituency against the official candidate of Congress party in the 2014 elections.

On the issue of the TRS Ministers criticising TJAC chairman M Kodandaram, Shabbir Ali questioned the silence of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR), even as his party men and cabinet colleagues continued to strongly criticise Kodandaram. He said that Kodandaram only reiterated what the Congress party had been saying ‘day in and day out’, in the Assembly and Council, on various failures of the government.

However, almost half-a-dozen ministers and other leaders attacked Kodandaram with the worst possible language that could be used against a senior citizen, especially one who had played an active role in the Telangana movement, said Shabbir Ali. He found fault with some Ministers questioning the very identity of Kodandaram and the JAC.

Shabbir Ali played an old video-clip in which KCR was seen reacting sharply to the comments made by the then Minister T G Venkatesh against Kodandaram. “KCR can be seen in the clip saying that Kodandaram was the representative of 4 crore people of Telangana and threatened to cut off the tongues of those who dared to criticise Kodandaram and bury them.

Does KCR still maintain the same stand? Will he pluck out the tongues of his Ministers and leaders who criticised Kodandaram or will he bury those who criticised his government?” questioned Shabbir Ali.
