Hyderabad: The Telangana government as well as the Congress party challenged the BJP national president to come out with the details of his claim that the Centre had given Rs 90,000 crore to the state in past two years.

Rebutting BJP national president Amit Shah’s claim on bounty given to Telangana State, Finance Minister Eatala Rajendar on Saturday during a press conference said that the BJP leader misled people by quoting false figures at Suryapet public meeting on Friday evening. In reality, the Centre released only Rs 36,000 crore in the last two years.

The state’s share from taxes collected by the Centre was yet to be released. The Centre assured to release Rs 7,000 crore as state share from the taxes. He said all this was part of the routine releases the State was to get along with other States. There was nothing special for the new state, he said.

As per the AP Reorganisation Act, the Centre promised to allocate sufficient funds for the district development but nothing had come. Meagre funds were released for the development of the backward districts. The state government was implementing welfare schemes from its own funds, the Minister said.

He observed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi appreciated KCR government for successfully implementing several innovative schemes particularly Mission Kakatiya and Mission Bhageeratha but the State did not receive any support from the Centre. Rajendar alleged that the Centre failed to provide job opportunities to the unemployed youth.

Deputy Chief Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali also rapped the Centre for its failure to come to the rescue of the state government. Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition in Telangana State Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir described BJP national president Amit Shah's speech at Suryapet as bundle of lies.

Shabbir Ali said that the BJP president had tried to mislead the people of Telangana with wrong statistics. Shabbir Ali said Amit Shah has no moral right to speak anything on Telangana. The Congress leader demanded Amit Shah to make public the details of Rs 90,000 crore which he claimed has been given to the TS government.

"The BJP-led NDA Government failed to fulfill the promises made in Andhra Pradesh State Reorganisation Act. Be it 4,000 MW NTPC power plant, railway coach factory at Kazipet, revival of Ramagundem fertiliser factory or the bifurcation of High Court, the BJP Government failed on all fronts,” he said.
