Hyderabad: Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma on Monday directed officials to speed up the works of Krishna Pushkaralu to be conducted in August this year. At a high-level review meeting with officials, Rajiv Sharma stressed the need for providing all facilities to the pilgrims. He recalled that pilgrims had appreciated the arrangements made for the Godavari Pushkaralu.

“So far, we have spent Rs 771 crore for 728 pushkaralu works and the works need to be expedited with a focus on quality,” he said. Emphasising the need for better amenities for the devotees, he said the special security mesh should be put in place at the bathing ghats.

Construction of Pushkar ghats, bathing ghats with special lighting, expansion of roads, repairing, transportation, barricading, water, power, sanitation and clean drive, parking lot, toilets and other amenities were the focused areas for the entire festivities, he said. The Chief Secretary also asked officials to take steps to deploy mobile medical teams, build mobile towers and conduct cultural programmes.
