Hyderabad: Telangana government on Monday decided to seek Central assistance for speedy completion of the ‘fibre grid’ project being taken up along with Mission Bhagiratha wherein optic fibre cables are being laid along with the drinking water pipeline works across the State.

The State government’s mission is to ensure optic fibre connectivity and supply of potable water to every household in Telangana. At a review meeting with the senior officials of the State IT and Rural Water works department here, IT Minister K T Rama Rao instructed officials to present a report on the grid to telecom officials with a request for funds under the Bharat Net scheme.

The Minister directed the officials to take up aerial cabling works in the cities where pipeline works have been completed. Officials informed the Minister that the pipeline works were completed on a stretch of 3,500 km where fibre duct works were nearing completion. State IT Secretary Jayesh Ranjan and other officials were present at the meeting.
