Hyderabad: Proactive measures by the Telangana Department of School Education resulted in the enrolment of 1.25 lakh out-of-school children at a government school in prestigious seven days ‘Badi Bata’ enrolment drive across the State.

Adilabad district has topped by enrolling highest number of children. Around 27,473 children were newly joined in government schools in the district. Warangal district ranked second in the list and had enrolled 23,811 children. The lowest 5,912 children were enrolled in Khammam district.

Similarly, other districts like Karimnagar enrolled 15,725 children, Nizamabad district enrolled 13,287 children and Mahbubnagar district enrolled 12,770 children. Meanwhile, Ranga Reddy district enrolled 7,893 children, Nalgonda district enrolled 11,803 children, Hyderabad enrolled 12,150 children and Medak district enrolled 14,693 out-of-school children in the programme.

The State-level child enrolment drive, Badi Bata was started from June 7 across the State and concluded on June 14.SSA State Community Mobilising Officer (CMO) Md Abdul Ghani said that they reached to 1,45,617 children and enrolled them in government schools.

“Around 45 per cent of the children of total children who are at the age of joining in schools are enrolled in the programme,” he said. The remaining children were left on their parent’s interests who are willing to take
admissions in private schools.
