Mahabubnagar: Mahbubnagar District Collector Dr TK Sridevi along with Ronald Rose, District Collector of Medak, inspected the works of Krishna Pushkaralu at Rangapur and Beechupally Pushkaram ghats on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sridevi said that she intended to use the experience of Ronald Rose for the Krishna Pushkaralu as he was very successful in conducting the Godavari Pushkaralu last year.

“As this is the first Krishna Pushkaralu after the formation of the new State, we do not want to take any chances. The ‘concrete’ works have been completed and the other works relating to Panchayat Raj and R & B will be completed by June 30. We intend to complete all works by July 16,” said Dr Sridevi.

One special officer will be posted at each Pushkar ghat to take care of public amenities and other aspects, said the Collector. She called upon the volunteers, NGOs, Red Cross, Lions Club and representatives of employee associations to take part in the Pushkaralu and extend their helping hand towards making the event, a grand success.

“We have started the works relating to Krishna Pushkaralu early to avoid last -minute hassles. With the coordination of all departments we are completing all works on time. We have erected fences and barricades on all three sides in the river at the Pushkar ghats to ensure the safety of devotees.

We are also constructing separate approach roads for incoming and outgoing devotes. Separate sectors are being built where devotees can change, after taking the holy dip,” informed the Collector.

Special barricades are being erected from parking lots to Pushkar ghats for the devotees who arrive by foot, to avoid chaos at the venue.

The district administration is also planning to install shower- taps and rain -jets to facilitate the devotees for an easy access to holy dip just in case the rain gods decide to play truant.
