Basara (Adilabad): In a noble gesture, the district Superintendent of Police Vikram Singh Duggal paid for the Aksharabhyasam (initiation ceremony for children into education) at the Gnan Saraswathy temple in Basara for 25 boys and 23 girls from his pocket.

The boys and girls hailed from very poor tribal families which could not afford to perform the religious ceremony.
The Superintendent of Police helped the children write the words on their slates amid Vedic chants.

He blessed them and expressed the hope that they would successfully complete their education and settle down in white collar jobs. The children and their parents were overjoyed by the gesture of police officer Duggal.

Later, he also had lunch with the children.
The local Deputy Superintendent of Police and the Sub-Inspector of Police were present on the occasion.
