Mahbubnagar: While taking part in the Haritha Haram plantation programme at Rajiv Vidya Mission permission in the district on Wednesday, District Collector Dr T K Sridevi, called up on every individual in the district to take up the responsibility of plantation of trees under Haritha Haram and make the programme a big success.

The Collector also noted that as Mahbubnagar is the largest district in Telangana, and there was a need for every individual to take the responsibility of planting trees. “By taking Haritha Haram programme as an opportunity, every individual must contribute and extend their support in making the district a green belt. Particularly, students must take part in large numbers,” she said.

“To gain prosperity and for better rains all the people across the district must voluntarily take part in the Haritha Haram and save our district from frequent droughts,” the Collector said.

This year, as the Met department had predicted good rains, the district administration has decided to plant a target of five crore saplings across the district. “Last year, due to bad weather conditions and lack of rains we could not do much. However, this year good rains are predicted and we want to take this opportunity to make this novel programme a success in the district with everybody’s support,” observed TK Sridevi.
