Warangal: Mallannasagar project in Medak district would be constructed despite the opposition by Opposition parties against the project execution, asserted Assembly Deputy Speaker M Padma Devender Reddy.

Speaking to press persons in Hanamkonda on Sunday, she said some political parties have been creating ruckus over the project and on the issue of compensation to the farmers and villagers, whose lands would be submerged due construction of the project.

The farmers under the project ayacut were happy as construction of mega reservoir would store 50 tmcft waters as part of Kaleswaram lift irrigation scheme. The project could irrigate around 40 lakh acres of land in Ranga Reddy, Medak, Nizamabad, Warangal and Nalgonda districts. But the leaders of different parties and others, acting against the interests of the farmers, were creating hurdles in the execution of the project.

The farmers should not heed to arguments of those opposing the project. The government was ready to provide compensation as per GO 123. The farmers were suffering as the opposition parties were preventing government from going ahead in paying the compensation, she complained.

Referring to the issue of high court bifurcation, Padma Devender Reddy asked the Centre’s intervention to resolve the matter at the earliest. In the interest of legal fraternity in both AP and Telangana and litigant public, separate high courts for each State should be established as per the provisions of Reorganisation Act.

The creation of new districts was meant to provide better administration to the people in the State but was not meant for the benefit any individual or elected representative. A committee chaired by chief secretary, was studying geographical aspects in the creation of the districts, she added.

The deputy speaker later on the day attended an Iftar party hosted by Telangana Jagruthi in Hanamkonda.
ZP chairman G Padma, GWMC mayor N Narender, MLA D Vinay Bhasker, the party district president T Ravinder Rao, minority wing president Md Nayeemuddin, Telangana Jagruthi state vice-president D Vijay Bhasker and others were present.
