Hyderabad: National Investigation Agency on Tuesday arrested two more persons -- Syed Naimathullah Hussaini and Mohammed Athaullah Rehman, who are accused of playing a key role in the city’s IS terror module.

Investigators said the accused Hussaini has been identified as chief of the Hyderabad terror module and Rehman as the motivator who raised funds for the module. Hussaini was earlier detained by NIA during the June 29 raid but was let off as his role was unclear at that time. Hussaini is a cloth merchant who has his shop near Shadan College near Khairatabad. He studied up to Intermediate and has three children.

Rehman is alleged to have played a key role in the conspiracy and is accused of radicalising the group members and also allegedly administered group members the oath of allegiance, Bayah, to IS chief Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi.

He is said to have participated in several conspiracy meetings as revealed by the other co-accused arrested in the case. Hussaini was acting as ‘amir’ of the group, contributing money to the terrorist fund collected by the members. He too participated in key conspiracy meetings, the sources said.

Meanwhile, NIA special court judge M Raj Kumar accepted NIA’s plea seeking police custody of Rehman and Hussaini and two other key members of the terror module Habeeb Mohammed and Abdullah Bin Ahmed Ali to probe further their role in the terror module. Police received eight days custody of the above accused.

The judicial remand of the remaining three terror-suspects has been extended till July 26. The NIA on June 29 had busted an IS module by detaining 11 young men during searches at 10 places in Old City and arrested five of them -- Mohammed Iliyas Yazdani, 24, his brother Mohammed Ibrahim Yazdani, 29, Habib Mohammed, 32, Mohammed Irfan alias Yaqais, 26, and Abdullah Bin Ahmed Al Amoodi alias Fahad, 30.

The NIA has alleged that the men were conspiring to commit terrorist acts in various parts of the country. According to the agency, they were planning to target public places, including religious sites and sensitive government buildings.

In its remand report submitted to the court earlier, the agency had said that the five accused had acquired weapons and explosive material to carry out violent terrorist attacks and were in touch with ISIS.

Following its prior investigation, on June 22 the NIA had lodged an FIR for ‘criminal conspiracy to wage war against the Government of India’ by collecting weapons and explosive materials by targeting public places, religious sites and sensitive government buildings in various parts of India.

Along with explosive materials, the NIA had recovered two semi-automatic pistols with ammunition, an air gun with telescopic sight and shooting practice target boards, a large number of digital gadgets including six laptops, about 40 mobile phones, 32 SIM cards, and a large number of hard disks, memory cards, pen drives and tabs during its search.
